Benefits Realised: A Construction Case Study

Business Acumen

OVERVIEW

Through a case study, Kevin will present his team's experience and learnings from end to end - the complete project lifecycle of a rural health construction project. The project that Kevin directed was the design and build of the Wide Bay Hospital New Acute Mental Health Unit, which was completed in late 2024. Upon successfully completing the project, Kevin undertook a Lessons Learned meeting with key stakeholders to understand what went well and what could be improved for future projects. Kevin will share his insights on how the Lessons Learned process can be effectively conducted for construction projects and how the lessons can be documented and shared to improve future works.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. How project managers can leverage a Benefit's focussed management approach.
  2. How project managers can apply Rural construction lessons learned process to tackle challenges and improve future project outcomes.
  3. Effective contract superintendency paves the way for tight project controls.
