Change Isn't Hard: A practical playbook

Power Skills

OVERVIEW

Projects don’t fail because the plan was wrong, they fail because change isn’t understood, communicated, or adopted.

In this opening session, we explore the human side of change and why even well-designed initiatives stall when communication and engagement are overlooked. Drawing on Mel Loy’s practical, people-centred framework, this session helps Project Managers understand how people respond to change and what leaders can do to support momentum and adoption.

TOPIC & BOOK WE WILL DISCUSS

Change Isn't Hard: A practical playbook for people-centred change communication

Change in businesses of all shapes and sizes is happening more frequently than ever before. Whether it’s something small like a new process, through to a completely new business strategy, or anything in between, people are being bombarded with change.

The challenge we face is not just change fatigue, but a poor track record of successful change. Given change is the ‘new normal’, we have to do it better.

A key element of successful change management is communication, but while change management processes abound, no specialised communication processes have been developed.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Why resistance is often a signal, not a problem
  • How poor communication creates hidden delivery risk
  • Practical ways PMs can support change adoption without formal authority
