Embedding ESG: The New Standard for Project Delivery
OVERVIEW
In this lunch and learn, attendees will gain a clear, practical understanding of how global sustainability challenges are reshaping the way projects are delivered.
The session opens with a powerful reality check—exploring how rising global temperatures, sinking cities like Jakarta, and major industrial failures such as Deepwater Horizon are no longer distant environmental concerns, but immediate and tangible project risks. It then traces how earlier global efforts like the Millennium Development Goals evolved into more integrated frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals and ESG, setting the foundation for today’s expectations.
Attendees will also gain insight into the rapid emergence of the carbon economy. Through mechanisms like emissions trading, carbon pricing, and border adjustment policies, ESG is shifting from a reporting obligation to a financial and trade reality—fundamentally changing how projects are funded, governed, and delivered.
Most importantly, participants will be equipped with the knowledge needed to navigate this new landscape. The session explores how carbon, compliance, reputation, and supply chain ethics now sit alongside scope, cost, and time as core project constraints. Attendees will build understanding across key areas including carbon accounting, ESG frameworks such as GRI and TCFD, evolving regulatory environments, and increasing stakeholder expectations.
By the end of the session, attendees will walk away with a stronger understanding of how to translate sustainability ambition into measurable outcomes—recognising that carbon is fast becoming a key currency of success, every project carries ESG implications, and effective project leadership now requires moving beyond reporting to real execution.
Key Learning Outcomes:
- ESG is no longer reporting, it’s delivery
- Scope, cost, time and now carbon.
- Every project is now an ESG project whether you planned it or not.
- Carbon is the new currency of project success
- Project Managers Must Evolve
