Alex Ma
Founder | Future Mindset
Alex received his Master’s Degree in Business (Applied Finance) in 2019, and continued his impactful career in Queensland mining in corporate senior roles in Technology and Engineering, managing over $5 billion in capital portfolios, and by this time already mentored over 50 professionals in their careers, primarily in Queensland. These accomplishments didn’t come easy as a member of a migrant family, despite initially graduating with highly desirable double degree qualifications Engineering (Mechatronics) and Computer Science in 2010. Alex had to learn lessons of immersion into the Australian culture, developing meaningful relationships in order to be accepted and eventually have his talent celebrated in his corporate career, which he always remembers when investing in others that have similar disadvantages. Alex has since benefited hundreds of graduate and mid-senior professionals as the Founder of Future Mindset through its programs, a career coaching business with 5 industry specific career coaches that invest in their mentee’s career breakthroughs such as breaking the glass and “bamboo” ceilings. In 2025, Alex and his company Future Mindset Professional Coaching won the prestigious “Study Queensland” Award presented at the Australian China Alumni Awards honoring his life’s work in supporting young professionals and job seekers. Through his volunteering efforts, Alex has become a great role model in the multitude of communities he served, having worked with reputable universities and organisations both locally and globally, such as QUT, UQ, Sun Yat-sen University, WU, EDHEC, Sunnybank State High School, BHP Foundation, Qantas and Engineers Australia to name a few. Notably, Alex has served as chairperson, committee member or judging panel to champion Asian representation and service to society as a volunteer with organisations like BHP, NAB, CSIRO, Queensland Government and QRC. He’s especially been proud in influencing and inspiring the next generation through involvement in selection or presentation of awards such as Queensland Premier’s coding challenge, QMEA Student Ambassador Scholarship and BHP Foundation’s Indigenous STEM Awards.
