Building Australia’s Future Through Demography

Business Acumen

Overview

In a world of increasing uncertainty there are some basic demographic 'truths' that should give confidence to project managers that, arguably, Australia is perhaps one of the best places on earth to pursue a career (in nation building) over the coming half century. Nothing in life is guaranteed, of course, but I think there's good prospects for project management type jobs in a nation that is safe, secure, has a temperate climate, that offers the rest of the world food, energy, resources for decades into the future. Indeed, show me somewhere else (other than Australia) that offers better opportunities across the range of measures that make for a safe, rewarding and prosperous way of life!

Learning Outcomes

Attendees will leave equipped with practical takeaways, such as:

  • Australia is a first world nation with a good quality of life with a resource base that will be increasingly required by a growing world over the balance of the century.
  • Unlike other developed nations a rising population base will require more infrastructure and administrative apparatus to accommodate bigger cities, businesses, logistics systems and as such will require the skills of project managers.
  • Australia is one of the most diverse developed nations on earth that will require social cohesion skills, systems, programs to be continually developed, updated, implemented by project managers in government and administration.
