Changing at work is a human experience | September Chapter Event

Business Acumen

Learn from a practitioner who has worn both Project Management and Change Management hats in Higher Education projects, as they take a human-centric experiential view of organisational change.

When an organisation makes changes, people experience ‘changing’. The experience of changing is different for different people, and effective change-making requires a balance between addressing individual and collective responses and needs.

The management of change can be thought of as a whole, or a series of experiences people have. Experiences can be shaped for positive affect with imagination, creativity and a deep appreciation for psychosocial human factors. Drawing on a design sensibility, a fresh perspective can be applied in how to see, understand and treat people when changing in organisational contexts. Creating a meaningful experience of change benefits the current change and better prepares people for participation in future change initiatives.

This event is a hybrid event! Come and hear Helen share about a project where university staff had a changing experience, with strategic and tactical elements that may surprise and even enchant you about what's possible. Tap into her wisdom and insight to raise your stakeholder engagement game in projects anywhere.

Challenge your understanding about what Change Management could be, and gain insights and guidance to help you:

  • Collaborate more effectively with Change Management practitioners
  • Shape up a project that factors in quality Change Management activities
  • Engage more creatively with stakeholders impacted by change
  • Appreciate the human experience of changing-making
