Behind-the-Scenes pulls back the curtains and offers students an opportunity to connect with distinguished speakers who will share career insights as professional Project Managers. With a wealth of experience from different industries, our speakers will share their stories of challenges and rewards from diverse projects ranging in scope, budget, and complexity. The event promises to highlight similarities and differences experienced during a day in the life of professional Project Managers. This is an evening project management students will not want to miss!

Speaker Introduction
Jennifer Wilson
Jen Wilson is an experienced Project Manager and senior administrator. She has broad experience in the private and public sectors, encompassing the higher education sector, professional services, transport and child care industries.
Jen is currently working as Head of Portfolio and Project Services at Bond University, where she is responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of multiple, simultaneous projects which are highly integrated or working towards a common strategy. Previously, she also worked as an IT Program Manager in charge of the delivery of multiple IT projects for the University, ensuring all projects and the overall program were successfully completed.
Gillian Deane
Gillian is an experienced Project Manager currently working for Magnisol and serving as a Director at Large at PMI Queensland Chapter.
Gillian is a respected, hands-on pragmatic project delivery manager who has over 25 years of professional practice with experience across a variety of industries and disciplines from technology, innovation, cultural and change management, financial services, manufacturing, automotive, software, the arts, gaming and business services within privately-owned companies, public-listed companies, and the not-for-profit sector.
Gillian is passionate and curious about the future ways of working and how innovative practices and culture changes can facilitate this journey. She is very committed to giving back to the community and also has a personal interest in start-ups, innovation, small businesses, arts and the community.
Troy Newman
Troy is a Mining Engineer and a highly regarded Project Manager with 25 years of experience in the mining industry and specialising in complex and large-scale cave mining projects.
In the last 25 years, Troy has held a number of positions around the world while working for Rio Tinto, one of the leading multinational mining companies. He currently works as a Senior Manager, Operations Readiness for the Oyu Tolgoi Project.
Troy also serves as the Associate Director, Membership for PMI Queensland Chapter.
Troy is passionate about science and the way things work and enjoys running, travel and exploration.
