INTRODUCTION & LESSONS / TAKE AWAY
We will look at how to set yourself up for success in the context of the organisation, its strategic goals, and then how to take an evidence-based approach to measure success.
Together we will define a framework for measuring success, that includes the project, the benefits, outputs and outcomes, key results, and if the project should be done in the first place. As we do this we will refer to case studies where the project has not been traditionally successful, but the organisation and stakeholders have been delighted.
Ryan is a Success Lead at Sensei Project Solutions. This is a fancy title for someone who works with clients to map out their future, taking into account what they are capable of now, what the industry can provide, and how far these two can go together. Sometimes this doesn't mean they end up capable of building a rocket ship, but they weren't meant to anyway. Ryan leads clients through a pragmatic journey, taking into account people, processes and then the tool enablers, which a delivery team implements. The solutions are Microsoft based productivity tools, which have to lead to a whole new world beyond the old cumbersome project management and schedule tools we are used to.
To get here Ryan has spent 15 years managing PMO's and implementing project management solutions. This has ranged over many industries from local government, finance, health, education, retail and more. After helping more clients than he can remember, and ensuring that his own projects are successful, Ryan now focuses on right-sized and realistic approaches, which do not need to be boring and are often far more grounded than the theory books want them to be.
