About Liezel

I am a Senior IT Project/Program Manager with over 15 years’ experience in private and public sector organisations in the UK, South Africa and Australia. I am currently employed by Presence of IT Australia where I work with several clients including Aurizon, Queensland Rail and Rio Tinto. Prior to my current position I was the Transition Manager at the Gold Coast City Council where I was instrumental in transitioning the SAP ERP Project (Release 1) to operations and SAP Support.

My curiosity for what drives human performance has seen me go over and above my duties as PM. Apart from managing Change in several of my projects, I have taken a leading role at my current organisation to develop and grow leadership skills and abilities of consultants. Establishing the “People Excellence” program, I have initiated a learning & development framework that has led to participants being more engaged, aware and accountable for their personal and career growth. 

I excel in challenging positions and thrive on the constantly changing conditions and challenges of a project environment. Through strong interpersonal and communication skills, I am able to defuse conflict situations without alienating stakeholders. My interest in people and human behaviour has seen me mentoring and coaching many colleagues and members of my team to excel in all areas of their lives. 

The solid foundation of my career was laid when I worked at Deloitte Consulting (UK) and KPMG Consulting (UK) as a consultant, and where I had the opportunity to develop excellent presentation, training, consulting and management skills. 

I am a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute (PMI), certified in Prince 2 (Foundation), a certified SAP Finance Consultant and I have a Masters degree in Information Technology and Management.

About the CEO Role

PMIQld's Volunteer Chief Executive Officer leads our volunteer leadership team in all operational activities for PMIQld. Ultimately this role ensures we stay on Mission, contribute to our strategic Pillars, and that our team is ultimately able to create a vibrant and wonderful community for all our PMIQld Members.

Our Chapter Mission, Vision and Pillars are what we are about.
