Adrian Tyler
Immediate Past President

About Adrian

Adrian has over 10 years experience in project and programme management through multinational company experience in Europe, North/South America and Australia. His experience in manufacturing, supply chain, mining and IT has given him a broad appreciation of the challenges facing organisations and the importance of strong project management as one of the ways to address these significant organisational challenges.

Adrian has been a member of the PMI since 2005 and a PMP since 2006. In addition, he holds a masters degree in project management from USQ, is a certified practitioner in PRINCE2 and P3O, and holds a CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) credential with the Disaster Recovery Institute International.

Adrian served as a Director at Large from 2011, followed by 2 terms as Vice President, before one term as PMI Qld's President from 2015 - 2017. At the 2017 election Adrian was ineligible to stand again for our board election due to having reached the term limit imposed by PMIQld's Constitution.  During Adrian's time in PMIQld's board he was instrumental in kicking off the first PMIQld State Conference, that eventually lead to growth of these state conference, eventually leading to PMI Qld hosting the National Conference in 2015.  Adrian is a keen networker and built a strong international PMI network through his time on the board, and also was one of a select group of less than 20 PMI Volunteers Internationally Annually who participate in PMI's Year long international PMI Leadership Masterclass. During Adrian's time on the board PMI Qld greatly matured in its governance, separating out into a governance focussed board supported by a voluntary leadership team that run the operational aspects of the chapter, providing greater skills and people to carry on the work of the chapter.  During Adrian's presidency he brought the idea of PM Day of Service to Qld from the Washington Chapter in USA, leading this event into inception in Australia.

‚ÄčAbout the Immediate Past President Role

PMIQld's Volunteer Immediate Past President (IPP) is a non-voting role on PMI boards that provides continuity and ongoing advice to PMIQld's current board, and continues to represents our members, and ensure governance of our organisation following the end of any President's Term.  The Immediate Past President also chairs the Nominations Committee for the chapter, ensuring our elections are run with propriety, coordinating these with PMI, and ensuring all candidates are in line with chapter rules and also well informed about the roles they're nominating for and our rules of election.  Ultimately our immediate past president continues to be a trusted custodian of our chapter values. The immediate past president, whilst a non-voting member, continues to be an invitee to chapter monthly board meetings throughout their term. The immediate past president continues to serve in these capacities for a number of years until they are replaced by an outgoing president who replaces them as IPP. They continue to use their significant knowledge and networks to collaborate with other chapters nationally and internationally, continuing to represent PMIQld in the PMI & broader community, and continuing to actively advance the profession.

Our Chapter Mission, Vision and Pillars are what we are about.
Volunteering is also a huge part of how PMI Qld provides value to members, and also how members can best get to know others and establish new skills and strong networks in industry. If you have an interest in better networks, giving back, or showcasing or growing your skills please contact our Associate Director - Volunteering ( to discuss how volunteering might open great doors for you.
