About Martin

Martin is passionate that highly skilled project management professionals have a key role to play in the health of our organisations. His areas of interest include providing sustainable leadership, networking, and continuing education for our members.

Martin has been a dedicated Program or Project Manager since 1996, with experience in telecommunications, banking, health, energy, resources, transport, education, retail, insurance industries as well as local, state and federal government, along with experience in the not for profit sector as well as working for family owned organisations. Martin has Program Managed multiple Enterprise Transformations in $1B+ enterprises, leading multiple initiatives in the range $10M - $150M, teams up to 180+ team members, and has authored masters level curriculum in Change Management. Originally from an Engineering and Computer Science background, Martin holds his PMP, Masters of Technology (Project Management), an MBA, and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Prior to being elected to serve as president Martin spent a term as Vice President, and a term as Director at Large.  During these periods he was instrumental in organising the 2014 Qld State Conference, and then Qld's hosting of the 2015 National Conference. He was involved in every PM Day of Service since it's inception in 2016. He's had strong input into the Professional Development, Events, Academic Engagement portfolio's as well as running a series of Industry Executive Breakfasts Quarterly for several years. He's built strong networks across all boards in every other Australian and New Zealand chapter, along with PMI leadership training from PMI internationally across several Asia Pacific Leadership Institute conferences.

When time allows you'll find Martin running, cycling, boating or travelling. He enjoys networking so please reach out for a coffee or to share some lunch. With a strong belief in volunteering, he also organises a local community parkrun operating weekly near his home in the Southern Suburbs of Brisbane.

About the President Role

PMIQ's Volunteer President is an elected role that represents our members, leading our board.  Ultimately this role is just a custodian of our chapter values, assets, and works across all our activities to ensure we stay on Mission, contribute to our strategic Pillars, and create a vibrant and wonderful community for all PMIQ Members. Like most of our board roles the President plays many roles in the chapter - keeping us constantly linked with other Australian Chapters and PMI Globally, chairing our monthly board meetings, representing PMIQ in the community, supporting our volunteer leaders, and always being available to all members to assist any concerns, opportunities or correspondence.  In common with all our board roles, elections are run strictly controlled by PMI, with all board members serving 2 year terms with a maximum of 4 consecutive terms allowed on the board.

Our Chapter Mission, Vision and Pillars are what we are about.
Volunteering is also a huge part of how PMIQ provides value to members, and also how members can best get to know others and establish new skills and strong networks in industry.
